OUR ROLE
The goal of this project was to lower the temperature and humidity levels in each of the Operating Rooms at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. Comfort Systems USA provided project development services including system selection, construction sequencing, temporary cooling/dehumidification and budget pricing. Comfort Systems USA established a Gross Maximum Price arrangement where 100% of the savings was returned to the owner upon completion.
The scope included a full replacement of the air handling system serving the Operating Rooms. The new air handling system utilizes an auxiliary sub-cooling coil to achieve the desired supply air condition. The auxiliary cooling coil is fed by a new air-cooled chiller system capable of cooling a water/glycol mix to 30°F. The system is now capable of producing OR space conditions of 60°F and 40% relative humidity.
The work was completed over a single weekend, and temporary cooling was provided to maintain space conditions at acceptable levels during the shutdown. The OR schedule was not affected by the shutdown.
