Memorial Hospital Modernization

Project Description
This project consists of the replacement of three air handling units that serve the operating room suites. Comfort Systems is also adding a chiller for the OR for super cooling. All mechanical fixtures in the OR suites are being replaced and an entirely new medical gas system is being installed.
Our Role
Memorial Hospital in Gulfport decided that they wanted to replace and modernize the mechanical equipment serving their operating room suites. They chose Roy Anderson Corporation and Comfort Systems to perform the work because of our extensive hospital resume. The hospital purchased a York chiller and air handling units and provided them to Comfort Systems to install.
The project has been divided into eight phases which requires several shutdowns. The air handling units need to be replaced without interrupting OR operations. Each shutdown provides a 48 hour window to install the unit, clean and sterilize the duct, install new VAV boxes, and new duct and piping. There was also a complete shutdown for the medical gas system installation. All OR’s were planned to be closed for 24 hours, but CSUSA was able to complete the installation in 15 hours and get the operating rooms back in service. We are very proud to announce that we have been able to complete all of the necessary work within the allotted windows of time without disruption to the hospital’s operations.
