To become a STEP Platinum firm, a member company must:- have a total recordable incident rate at least 25% below their NAICS code industry average in the past year;
- maintain an Experience Modification Rate (EMR, or "Mod Factor") of 0.800 (0.900 for companies with less than 100 employees);
- have not suffered a fatality that resulted in an OSHA citation in any of the previous 3 years;
