Safety
Safety is a core value of Comfort Systems USA (Southeast). Our comprehensive program focuses on accident prevention rather than "just" OSHA compliance, because following regulations does not, in and of itself, keep people safe. We are committed to compliance with applicable regulations, but we also recognize that safety has less to do with rulebooks and more to do with what's in the minds of our workers and the hearts of our management.
Comfort Systems USA (Southeast)'s safety process focuses on attitude first and foremost. By fostering an attitude of safety consciousness, our key leaders develop an expectation of zero accidents and injuries. Our safety skill development begins with 100% of our field work force, including all Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen and Company Officers receiving new hire safety orientation and being certified in OSHA 10 Hour Safety or Comfort Systems USA's High Impact Training for Safety (HITS). Additional training is also provided in areas such as specialized job skills, leadership, supervision, and management, which further enhance our safety culture.
Our Safety Culture along with our comprehensive Substance Abuse program that includes random testing has made Comfort Systems USA (Southeast) PREMIER.The success of Comfort Systems USA (Southeast)'s safety process is measured by the decline in our OSHA Recordable Incidence Rate, currently at 3.09. This rate is well below the industry average of a 5.7 OSHA Incident Rate. Our corporate Experience Modification Rate (EMR) further shows this continued safety achievement, at a 0.61 EMR.
